Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a Site Seal?
Yes, you may add the eWAY Site Seal by using the Site Seal Generator here.
What customer ID do I use in Sandbox testing?
You can see all of your Sandbox credentials by going to Resources > Sandbox/Testing. Please make sure you use the testing endpoints when using your Sandbox credentials.

I am using the test gateway, why am I getting a failed transaction?
On the test gateway, we do not connect to the banks to process transactions. As such, we generate the bank response code from the Total Amount field. The last 2 digits of the amount will be returned as the response code with the response text appropriate for that code.

Eg: $10.95 will return the Bank Response Code of 95, which is a failed transaction.

Nb. To process an approved transaction, please use an amount ending in 00 Eg: $10.00
Does my solution have to be PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) certified?
Most payment solutions allowing you to host your own credit card form require you to use a PCI-DSS compliant webhost and undertake stringent tests.

Using eWAY's new Rapid API solution you can now send credit card information directly from the users browser session, bypassing your server - making your solution PCI-DSS compliant.
Where can I find a list of all the response codes?
A full list of the bank response codes can be obtained from here.
Which integration method should I use?
eWAY offers a range of integration methods, each tailored to a different business model. If your merchant is unsure of which method suits them, they should contact us on 1800 10 65 65 to discuss with their Success Manager.
Where can I find information on eWAY's APIs?
Information on eWAY's APIs are available from within Partner Portal Resources section under 'API'
Is there any way I can send a test transaction?
As an eWAY Partner, you are entitled to a Sandbox testing account.

To have your Sandbox account activated please log a support ticket by emailing support@eway.com.au
What programming languages can I use to integrate to eWAY?
eWAY's APIs are platform independent. This means that you can use any programming language, as long as it is capable of creating a secure connection over SSL (https) and can transmit data in XML.
Which transaction data formats does eWAY accept?
Requests to the eWAY gateways must be done using XML strings sent over a secure (https) connection. Our Web Services require a connection using SOAP.

For more information on connecting to the eWAY APIs please see the API data under the Resource section in the eWAY Partner Portal.
I put in a test card number like 4444333322221111 it comes up with error "92 Unable to Route Transaction"?
On the live gateways you must use a real credit card number. The test credit card number will only work through Sandbox/Testing gateways.
Does the payment gateway support CCV (aka CVN, CVV, CVV2) checking?
Yes, every payment solution (where allowed*) supports processing using the CCV.

* Does not include Recurring Transactions or Stored Transactions as the PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) prohibits storing of the CCV.
I'm using xxx cart, are you integrated with it?
