A recent study from Galaxy Research found Australians are demanding more online options from local retailers, particularly in light of the holiday season.

The study showed 83 percent of Australian consumers enjoy shopping on ecommerce sites, and nearly 75 percent prefer to buy online over in-store. Further, 20 percent of shoppers plan to make their holiday purchases only online and avoid busy stores, and only one-fifth feel shopping online will not be enjoyable this holiday season.

"In the past 24 months there's been a huge surge towards online retail and the Australian offering and calibre of online sites has improved enormously," said John Winning, CEO of Galaxy Research. "As people have increasingly great experiences shopping online, we believe many more Australians will gain enough confidence to test online shopping."

One Australian retailer that has found great success in the ecommerce industry is BabyKingdom. The company has enjoyed so much success, Bean Media Group gave the company a Gold Award in its Australia's Best Retail list.

The company credits its success to its higher quality of products and services, prime store locations and wide variety of offerings on its ecommerce site.
