To accept real-time credit card payments through your website via eWAY,
you MUST have an Internet merchant facility with one of the major Australian banks
(StGeorge, Bank SA, Commonwealth, ANZ, NAB, Westpac or BankWest).
This is a special
facility that eWAY connects to, and allows us to process online payments for you.
This facility is merely a temporary holding account, but will allow you to specify
a settlement account to deposit all funds processed for each business day. Through
the use of an Internet merchant facility, eWAY never actually holds funds on your
behalf, but instead processes them directly into your own facility.
Please note: Your Internet merchant facility MUST be Internet specific, and CANNOT
be the same as an EFTPOS terminal.
Your chosen merchant bank will require that you are a registered Australian business.
This is a banking requirement and cannot be avoided. For information on registering
for an Australian Business Number please visit the
Australian Taxation Office
website.
Your chosen merchant bank may require that you have a website, with a completed
payment page, up and running prior to approving your Internet merchant facility.
If you have not yet begun the procedure of developing your website, you may wish
to contact one of our
eCommerce Developer Partners.
All the partners listed in our developer directory have experience with eWAY
and eCommerce websites, and the directory can be searched to better suit your needs.
If you already have a website, but need to add a shopping cart and payment facility
to it, we have provided links to numerous
shopping carts
that have integrated their products to the eWAY gateway. Some of these shopping
carts provide a complete website, in addition to the cart facility, while others
can be plugged in to the back of an existing site.
To assist in finding the cart
to best suit your business, we have created a
Shopping Cart Search, which searches our entire database of supported shopping carts.
Your chosen merchant bank may request that your provide them with a business plan
during your application for an Internet merchant facility. If you do not have a
business plan previously prepared, or are unsure of how to create one, you can use
the
eWAY Business Plan Wizard
to assist with this process.
Your chosen merchant bank will request that your provide them with your refund policy
as part of your application for an Internet merchant facility. Below are example
of two different refund policies:
Example 1 "We are happy to credit or exchange any unopened goods within 14 days,
provided we receive the goods in original condition. Returns will be approved at
our discretion and all postage costs are to be incurred by the customer. If the
disc is damaged upon receipt, we will be unable to accept the goods and they will
be returned to you.
Please email Returns with notification of the items and reason for the return and
we will respond with instructions on how to proceed.
Should you receive a faulty or damaged product, please
contact us
via email [add email address] with your specific problem and we'll get back to you
promptly."
Example 2 "[Company Name] operates according to strict quality control guidelines,
and follows a 30 day money back guarantee, including change of mind.
Refunds do not include postage and handling and will be processed within thirty
working days of receipt of the goods. The product must be returned in original condition
and packaging, with all accessories and contents.
We recommend that you return the product via Australia post and you must pre pay
all returns postage, you assume any risk of lost, theft or damaged goods during
transit & therefore advise you take out shipment registration of insurance with
Australia post. [Company Name] reserves the right to refuse to accept, and to return,
parcels that arrive COD or have More To Pay stamped on them."
Your chosen merchant bank will require that your website clearly displays your contact
details for your customers. This may include physical address details, postal address
details, phone numbers, and Email addresses. A contact form that can be filled out
by your customers and sends an Email to your business may be sufficient, but you
should confirm this with your merchant bank.
