Revenue Soars 200% for Click Frenzy Merchants

$1.5M worth of goods transacted through local payment gateway during 24 hour Click Frenzy

22 November, 2012 – Canberra, Australia – Australian online shoppers are giving their credit cards a work out, with 24 hour sale Click Frenzy generating a 200 percent increase in revenue for many retailers involved. Despite a rocky start to the flash sale, Click Frenzy represented a significant increase in transactions for participating retailers, offering hope to a concerned retail market in the lead up to the holiday period.

Customers of local payment gateway eWAY experienced a collective revenue spike of more than 200 percent during the 24 hours of Click Frenzy.

The boost in revenue indicated a strong demand from consumers wanting to beat the crowds and find bargains online in the lead up to Christmas. Shoppers purchased almost $1,500,000 worth of goods in the 24 hours between 7pm on Tuesday 20th November and 7pm Wednesday 21st November 2012 from Click Frenzy merchants using the eWAY payment gateway.

This was a 240 percent increase from the same time the previous week, says eWAY, which compiled the statistics from a list of its customers which are also Click Frenzy merchants. The number of transactions during the 24 hour period also ballooned by over 285 percent to over 14,000, compared to the same period the previous week.

eWAY customer brandsExclusive, an online retailer selling clothing, accessories and homewares also experienced significant uptake through its involvement in the sale.

“We saw strong increases in traffic throughout the 24 hour period with a spike in new members joining our site as well as a lift in unique visitors. The traffic and revenue figures over the 24 hour period were very promising and we would definitely consider participating again.” said Daniel Jarosch, Co-Founder and Managing Director of brandsExclusive.

eWAY’s other Click Frenzy merchants include retailers in consumer electronics, outdoor gear and fashion such as Anaconda, Shaver Shop, Ezy DVD, Katie’s and Camera House.

Matt Bullock, CEO of eWAY believes the numbers are indicative of strong consumer purchasing habits in the lead up to Christmas.

Click Frenzy is modelled on the phenomenally successful Cyber Monday in the US, an event for online retailers to capitalise on the Thanksgiving Holiday ‘Black Friday’ phenomenon which has become the biggest retail sales day on the US calendar.
