A mobile payment service is great if you mow lawns, walk dogs or sell food from a truck. But what if you also want to take prepaid orders online or by phone?
The availability of relatively cheap card readers that combine with smartphones to create mobile EFTPOS machines has been a boon to many small businesses.
Mint Payments’ Mint mPOS is one example, but there are others.
Then there are companies such as eWay that provide payment services for ecommerce sites.
Mint is going omnichannel with the introduction of its Minternet service that caters for card-not-present situations such as online and phone payments.
This means Mint’s clients can now accept card payments face-to-face, online (via their web sites, apps or hosted payments pages), as part of phone or mail orders, or for scheduled or recurring transactions (such as subscriptions for personal training, or where the merchant has agreed to extended terms). Integration with business software is possible, although Mint did not mention any specific examples.
Minternet’s fee structure is not easily found on Mint’s web site.
Mint’s services include merchant facilities, saving businesses the trouble of making arrangements with a bank.
Alex Teoh, CEO of Mint Payments, said “it was a natural progression for Mint to evolve with online payments and a suite of innovative billing solutions.”
