Magento and Eway talk shop in new deal

eBay-owned software platform Magento has added support for Australian payments provider eWAY, in a partnership that should make it easier for online merchants to do business.

The functionality comes in the form of a new eWAY payments extension which is available now on Magento Connect, Magento’s online extension marketplace.

The integration between the two aims to online entrepreneurs take credit card payments faster and easier, and fix common problems eCommerce store owners face with starting and growing their online business.

Online merchants using Magento, which serves more than 240,000 merchants worldwide, will now have access to fraud protection through eWAY’s Beagle fraud prevention systems, as well as access to more streamlined refunds and chargebacks systems.

eWAY’s chief executive Matt Bullock said the initial two-week trial yielded “overwhelming positive feedback” from merchants who say they are now able to give their customers more options to accept payments online with minimum effort.

“Everything we do at eWAY is focused on making the experience for merchants and their customers frictionless, and that’s what this module does,” Mr Bullock said.

“We work with the largest network of eCommerce partners in Australia, and working with Magento has been particularly rewarding. We’re really pleased to be able to help them improve their products for their customers.”

During development of the module, eWAY worked closely with Magento customers of all sizes to ensure the module would be well received upon launch following beta.
